Read: Psalm 40:1-10
God Sustains His Servant.
For the music director. A Psalm of David.
40 I waited patiently for the Lord;
And He reached down to me and heard my cry.
2 He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the mud;
And He set my feet on a rock, making my footsteps firm.
3 He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God;
Many will see and fear
And will trust in the Lord.
4 How blessed is the man who has made the Lord his trust,
And has not turned to the proud, nor to those who become involved in falsehood.
5 Many, Lord my God, are the wonders which You have done,
And Your thoughts toward us;
There is no one to compare with You.
If I would declare and speak of them,
They would be too numerous to count.
6 You have not desired sacrifice and meal offering;
You have opened my ears;
You have not required burnt offering and sin offering.
7 Then I said, “Behold, I have come;
It is written of me in the scroll of the book.
8 I delight to do Your will, my God;
Your Law is within my heart.”
9 I have proclaimed good news of righteousness in the great congregation;
Behold, I will not restrain my lips,
Lord, You know.
10 I have not hidden Your righteousness within my heart;
I have spoken of Your faithfulness and Your salvation;
I have not concealed Your mercy and Your truth from the great congregation.

Walking In The Word
This is King David’s psalm of thanksgiving, considering the hard times he endured in the past two psalms we read. David was finally rejoicing in the Lord for answering His prayers. The Lord turned David’s sorrows into a song of joy.
In Psalms 40:1-3, David tells us how he waited patiently for the Lord, how the Lord heard his cry and rescued him by setting his feet on a rock, and gave Him a song of praise. This is a testimony of what happens when one cries out to the Lord and waits patiently for the Lord’s perfect timing, not rushing Him to act when we want Him to. It brings glory to our Father in Heaven, and people see the power of our God and fall to their knees saying, “Surely their God lives.”
When we put our trust in Yeshua, we give Him the total freedom of doing anything He wants to do in our lives. In the Scriptures, He says, “For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11). The only way to receive all that He has for us is if we stop living our lives our own way. The Lord is not requiring us to bring burnt and sin offerings to Him, but He does wants us to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1).
Giving all our possessions to Jesus means nothing if we have not given our lives to Him.
