Read: Psalms 101
101 I will sing of mercy and justice;
To You, Lord, I will sing praises.
2 I will carefully attend to the blameless way.
When will You come to me?
I will walk within my house in the integrity of my heart.
3 I will set no worthless thing before my eyes;
I hate the work of those who fall away;
It shall not cling to me.
4 A perverse heart shall leave me;
I will know no evil.
5 Whoever secretly slanders his neighbor, him I will destroy;
I will not endure one who has a haughty look and an arrogant heart.
6 My eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me;
One who walks in a blameless way is one who will serve me.
7 One who practices deceit shall not dwell within my house;
One who speaks lies shall not maintain his position before me.
8 Every morning I will destroy all the wicked of the land,
So as to eliminate from the city of the Lord all those who do injustice.
Walking In The Word
We live in a wicked and perverse generation. Sometimes it is very difficult to identify a Christian from a non-believer. Society has painted a picture of a distorted view of morals and socially accepted behaviors. The quest to spread the Good News of Jesus is met with much apprehension and callousness. Many of us are suppressed by the rules and regulations of our occupations and careers. Being a young Christian in America is like being a wounded animal in a jungle. The question is: who will defend righteousness?
In the Psalm today, we see David taking a righteous stance in the midst of evil, darkness, and persecution. In the opening verse, he says, “I will sing of your loving kindness and justice” (Psalm 101:1a). This is a perfect picture of how every believer should posture themselves in the midst of situations that oppose the righteous standard that the Lord has set for all creation.
Today I challenge you to take up the mantle of loving-kindness and justice and fight for righteousness. Tell yourself to be “silent no more” and sing the songs of our Savior. Testify of His goodness so all may see Him and glorify the Father who is in heaven. Our weapon is to be faithful and to walk in such a way that we are blameless, so we can be the ministers of the defense of righteousness on our generation.
