He Is On His Way

In The Word

Read: 2 Peter 3:1-10

Beloved, this is now the second letter I am writing to you in which I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of a reminder, to remember the words spoken beforehand by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken by your apostles.

The Coming Day of the Lord

Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue just as they were from the beginning of creation.” For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and theearth was formed out of water and by water, through which the world at that time was destroyed by being flooded with water. But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly people.

But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not willing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance.

A New Heaven and Earth

10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be discovered.

Walking In The Word

The Lord is coming back! Yes, He is! How do we know this? Because He said He is. Many people mock and laugh at this declaration. They look at how time has continued to tick and feel certain that it always will. These mockers view time in years; God views the beginning of time, as we know it, until now in days. Consider this: in God’s eyes, the earth is less than a week old. We have a hard time (no pun intended) understanding this because we are so limited by time. However, we are encouraged to stretch our understanding to look at things from God’s perspective instead of our limited perspective.

What is God’s prospective? King Yeshua is coming back to receive His own and to destroy the earth by fire. The only thing holding Him back is our Father’s compassion and love for humanity. He desires for all people to be saved from the coming judgment.

We have been saved from this coming destruction and must be reminded that, though it tarries, it is coming. We have a responsibility to warn others. This is why we must share our faith with those around us. If we are not careful, we can get caught up in thinking He’s not coming. That’s why we must stir our minds to be ready at all times, and we must strive to do our best to get others ready as well. Though His promise has tarried some, it doesn’t mean it will tarry much longer. When mockers yell out, “He’s not coming,” we must yell out, “Look up, He is on His way!”
