In The Word
Read: Habakkuk 3:16-19
16 I heard, and my inner parts trembled;
At the sound, my lips quivered.
Decay enters my bones,
And in my place I tremble;
Because I must wait quietly for the day of distress,
For the people to arise who will attack us.
17 Even if the fig tree does not blossom,
And there is no fruit on the vines,
If the yield of the olive fails,
And the fields produce no food,
Even if the flock disappears from the fold,
And there are no cattle in the stalls,
18 Yet I will triumph in the Lord,
I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.
19 The Lord God is my strength,
And He has made my feet like deer’s feet,
And has me walk on my high places.
For the choir director, on my stringed instruments.

Walking In The Word
We looked at Habakkuk 3:17-18 in yesterday’s devotional, and we remembered that our hope is in the God of our salvation. Today, we remember that He is also the God of our strength (Habakkuk 3: 19). Even though we may tremble at what our eyes see and what our ears hear, we must wait quietly, resting in His strength. “For from the days of old they have not heard or perceived by ear, nor has the eye seen a God besides Him, who acts on behalf of the one who waits for Him” (Isaiah 64:4).
Our strength comes from no one other than Him. There is no one like Him, and no one beside Him. Many times, we get so caught up in what we see and hear around us, that we panic and start rushing to solve our problems in our own strength. However, we have not been given a spirit of fear, but instead we have been given His Spirit of power and love and a sound mind. We must pursue Him and ask for His strength and His power every morning. We shouldn’t move in action without first asking Him what His will is. When we wait for Him to show us, He is the one who moves in the situation. He is the One who can change hearts and change circumstances; He is the One who can bring us through those circumstances because of His strength. Walk in His strength on His ancient paths today.
