In The Word
Read: Psalms 40:11-17
11 You, O Lord, will not withhold Your compassion from me;
Your lovingkindness and Your truth will continually preserve me.
12 For evils beyond number have surrounded me;
My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to see;
They are more numerous than the hairs of my head,
And my heart has failed me.
13 Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me;
Make haste, O Lord, to help me.
14 Let those be ashamed and humiliated together
Who seek my life to destroy it;
Let those be turned back and dishonored
Who delight in my hurt.
15 Let those be appalled because of their shame
Who say to me, “Aha, aha!”
16 Let all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You;
Let those who love Your salvation say continually,
“The Lord be magnified!”
17 Since I am afflicted and needy,
Let the Lord be mindful of me.
You are my help and my deliverer;
Do not delay, O my God.

Walking In The Word
In verse 11, David says, “You O LORD, will not withhold Your compassion from me; Your loving-kindness and Your truth will continually preserve me.” David never doubted the Lord’s love even when He was going through the worst of times in his life. He knew for a fact that the Lord was so compassionate and that if he stayed in His truth the Lord was going to preserve him from His enemies.
That is the same truth we need to walk in today as believers. We need to know that if God said anything in His Word, nothing could ever change it. Even the devil himself cannot separate us from the love of God because the Word says so (Romans 8:38-39). Yahshua has given us all the weapons we need to fight our enemy the devil and defeat him in our everyday life. He has no power if we don’t give it to him.
Many times we read these Scriptures and see the truth in them, but forget that we are our own worst enemies. The only thing that can separate us from the love of God is ourselves. Our wrong choices and sins can take us far away from the Lord’s protection; they can take us to a place where we are vulnerable and subject to the power of the evil one. The Lord will never make us stay with Him. We have to make a choice.
Joshua said, “But as for me and my house we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15).
The question is: who will you choose to serve today?
