The Resurrected Life

In The Word

Read: Luke 24:1-12

The Resurrection

24 But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men suddenly stood near them in dazzling clothing; and as the women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living One among the dead? He is not here, but He has risen. Remember how He spoke to you while He was still in Galilee, saying that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.” And they remembered His words, and returned from the tomb and reported all these things to the eleven and to all the rest. 10 Now they were Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James; also the other women with them were telling these things to the apostles. 11 But these words appeared to them as nonsense, and they would not believe them. 12 But Peter got up and ran to the tomb; stooping and looking in, he *saw the linen wrappings only; and he went away to his home, marveling at what had happened.

Walking In The Word

Several women who devoutly followed Yahshua went to the tomb only to find the stone had rolled away, the tomb empty, and two angels present. One angel admonished the ladies for their surprise by asking, “Why do you seek the living One among the dead?” He reminded them that Yahshua had told them several times that He would die and rise from the dead on the third day. The women ran to tell the disciples the magnificent news, but the disciples refused to believe the report. Peter and John ran to the tomb to see for themselves. Later, Yahshua would rebuke the disciples for not believing the women’s report (Mark 16:14).

The Spirit of God that victoriously resurrected Yahshua also lives in you to equip you with the power and wisdom to live a fulfilled, Christ-like life. Your life should display this exceedingly great resurrection power through becoming conformed to Yahshua’s image, believing in God for great things, triumphing over temptation and sin, and being willing to share the gospel of Yahshua with others. Christians should not be like those who are spiritually dead that pursue selfish and worthless pleasures, follow wicked temptations, and are bound by sin.

Yahshua said, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly” (John 10:10). This new life is not an empty feeling or hopeful wish, it is a reality. Now let us trust Him, rise up, and live victoriously!
