Pleasing To The Father

In The Word

Read: Hebrews 1

God’s Final Word in His Son

God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom He also made the world. And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become so much better than the angels, to the extent that He has inherited a more excellent name than they.

For to which of the angels did He ever say,

You are My Son,
Today I have fathered You”?

And again,

“I will be a Father to Him
And He will be a Son to Me”?

And when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says,

And let all the angels of God worship Him.”

And regarding the angels He says,

He makes His angels winds,
And His ministers a flame of fire.”

But regarding the Son He says,

Your throne, God, is forever and ever,
And the scepter of righteousness is the scepter of His kingdom.
You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness;
Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You
With the oil of joy above Your companions.”

10 And,

You, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth,
And the heavens are the works of Your hands;
11 They will perish, but You remain;
And they all will wear out like a garment,
12 And like a robe You will roll them up;
Like a garment they will also be changed.
But You are the same,
And Your years will not come to an end.”

13 But to which of the angels has He ever said,

Sit at My right hand,
Until I make Your enemies
A footstool for Your feet”?

14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent out to provide service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?

Walking In The Word

Hebrews 1, should lift your soul. In these few verses we see our Savior exactly as He is right now—high and lifted up, radiant with majesty, seated at the right hand of the Father. This is Jesus, the one and only Son, the Savior of the world!
He is “the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of His nature” (v. 3). When Jesus said, “Whoever has seen Me has seen the Father” (John 14:9), He was telling the pure truth. Every bit of the Father’s heart, holiness, and love shines perfectly in Him. There is no one else—no prophet, no angel, no teacher—who reveals God like Jesus does.
The Father delights in His Son. He has given Him a name above every name, seated Him at His right hand, and made the whole world His inheritance (vv. 4–13). Every knee in heaven already bows; one day every knee on earth will too. The only One above Jesus is the Heavenly Father Himself, and even the Father exalts Him without measure.
Jesus was sent to save us. He left glory, bore our sins, and purged them forever with His own blood. Then He sat down—finished, victorious, enthroned. And now the angels, those mighty beings who once announced His birth, are sent to serve us because we belong to Him (v. 14). You are never alone; heaven is on assignment for you today!
This truth is meant to encourage your heart. The King who rules over all is the same Savior who died for you and lives for you. And He is not finished with you yet. We are called to be conformed to His image—to love righteousness and hate evil just as He does (v. 9). When we walk that way, our Father and our Lord are pleased. He anoints us with the oil of gladness, the same joy that overflows from Jesus Himself.
So lift your eyes today. Your Savior is high and lifted up, and He is praying for you by name. Choose His ways. Hate what is evil, cling to what is good. The One who sits enthroned forever is making you like Himself, and He will fill you with gladness that no circumstance can steal.

You are loved beyond words by the exalted King.

Walk in His joy today.
