Yahweh To My Lord

In The Word

Read: Psalm 110

A Psalm of David.

110 The Lord says to my Lord:
“Sit at My right hand
Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.”
The Lord will stretch out Your strong scepter from Zion, saying,
“Rule in the midst of Your enemies.”
Your people will volunteer freely on the day of Your power;
In holy splendor, from the womb of the dawn,
Your youth are to You as the dew.

The Lord has sworn and will not change His mind,
“You are a priest forever
According to the order of Melchizedek.”
The Lord is at Your right hand;
He will shatter kings in the day of His wrath.
He will judge among the nations,
He will fill them with corpses,
He will shatter the chief men over a broad country.
He will drink from the brook by the wayside;
Therefore He will lift up His head.

Walking In The Word

Psalm 110 is said to be the most significant psalm to the New Testament. It is here we find that David proclaimed in verse one, “The Lord (Yahweh) says to my Lord (Jesus) sit at my right hand!” The power and authority given to our Lord Jesus to rule and reign is seen here in verse 1. He was given the power and authority to rule over sin, death, and satan himself. No one, angel or man, was given this position in heaven. In verse 4, God proclaimed, “It is done I will not change my mind. This Jesus will be in the order of Melchizedek.” Melchizedek was the priest and king of Salem or Jerusalem which means “peace.” Most importantly, this position of priesthood will last forever!

If you have given your life to Jesus Christ and asked Him to be your Lord and Savior, it’s important to know that His position of authority is everlasting. His ability to represent your cause to the Heavenly Father as priest and His authority over heaven and earth as king is something you can trust in for eternity. Your salvation, your eternal existence, rests upon Him. No power, no situation, nothing can take you away from Him and what He has authority to do in your life. Rest assured that if you have placed all your cares, your entire life, in the hands of Jesus, He has the power and authority to deliver you in your time of need. Aren’t you happy to know that you have the promise, “I will never leave you nor forsake you”? Only Jesus Christ has been given the authority and position to make a promise like that!
